Why become a Friend of HOST?

For more than 20 years, HOST UK has been working to extend the hand of friendship to international students from

all over the world who come to study in the UK. Many of these students go on to be leaders of industry, senior within government or politically influential. Through our work, they are more knowledgeable about Britain and more positive about its values and culture than many other alumni. Today, more than ever, it is important to build understanding between countries and between those from different backgrounds and cultures.

By becoming a Friend of HOST, you enable us to continue to promote international friendship and understanding.

You will also be helping international students in hardship through the Friends of HOST Fund.

What is HOST about?

HOST matches international students and volunteer host families all around the UK and the students stay as guests in the hosts’ homes for a day or a weekend. This leads to greater understanding between cultures and often long term friendships. The students gain something special and unusual from their stay in Britain that they otherwise might not have found.

It only costs a small amount to become a Friend, of which 40% goes towards the Friends of HOST Fund, which enables students facing hardship to go on a HOST visit.

When you become a Friend of HOST we will keep in touch with you from time to time, but you will not receive bulk mailings and we will not give your details to any individual or other organisation.

To become a Friend of HOST:

We have three kinds of Friends:

  • Individual Friend: £20 per year
  • Family Friend: £30 per year
  • Corporate Friend: £300 per year


Note: Our Regional Organisers and hosts automatically become Friends.
