Important Note We have had unusually high levels of demand for HOST visits and we cannot guarantee that you will be placed in your choice of areas. We will, however, place you in an area within your travel budget. Our hosts will welcome you wherever you travel to and we wish you an enjoyable visit. If you wish to travel beyond your local area please give a realistic amount for travel – we would suggest a minimum of £40. If you are required to make payment to HOST or to your institution, please make sure that you send your payment to avoid delays. Many institutions will not “authorise” your visit until you have paid. Please make sure that you understand this guidance before applying (you may want to print it out) as cancellations upset our hosts and may mean that other students from your institution will not be able to have a HOST visit. For more information, please contact info@hostuk.org |
Notes
- Most of our hosts do not live in the big cities, but in the suburbs, small towns and villages in the countryside
- A HOST visit is primarily about meeting people, and seeing their way of life. It is not about being a tourist and visiting famous sights. Most hosts do show their guests the area where they live, and you will find it interesting to see a new part of Britain in the company of the people who live there.
- Before making the choices of location for your visit, please think carefully about the time and cost involved in getting there. Visiting one of the travel websites will give you some idea about this.
