HOST is always looking for volunteers across the UK and sometimes has vacancies for internships and paid posts in our London office.
Please choose a current vacancy from below:
|Currently there are no paid posts available.|
Voluntary Regional Organiser (BACK TO TOP)
HOST is administered centrally by a very small team based in London. It would be impossible to run the scheme without the voluntary work of our Regional Organisers (ROs). We aim to have an RO for every county in the UK, and ideally the RO lives in the area they are looking after. We almost always have a few vacancies, and we are also glad to have volunteer ‘locums’ who look after regions where they do not live, while we are waiting for a resident RO.
The job involves placing students with appropriate families based on given criteria. A friendly telephone manner and appreciation of the value of volunteers is essential. The job also includes some publicity work and recruiting of new hosts, including visiting prospective hosts in their homes.
There is the opportunity to undertake liaison with local institutions and students.
There is support from the London Office and from Regional Organisers in neighbouring regions.
Please download the job description below for further information.

Working with HOST UK
Some quotes of Interns who recently completed a placement with HOST UK:
It’s been a great learning experience working as an intern in Host. Everyone was very helpful and quite patient with me, which gave me confidence in myself to interact more freely with everyone and become more professional in my work. I am sure this experience will prove worthy when I go back home.
Anubhuti, Admin & Marketing Intern, Oct 2012 - Jan 2013
HOST UK is a right place to gain valuable experience in office work and marketing. The team was friendly and very supportive creating a pleasant atmosphere in which to learn and work. By doing this internship I gained confidence in executing many administrative tasks and was able to implement in practice my knowledge as a marketing graduate. This program was very helpful for improving my employability which resulted in me finding a paid marketing assistant position in an interior-design company. I am very grateful for having a chance to be part of this organization.
Bozho, Admin & Marketing Intern, Dec 2012 - Jan 2013
My experience as an Admin and Marketing intern at HOST UK was a definite confidence booster for me, both career- and personality-wise. I will always consider it as the door to every opportunity I receive now and in the future. The program itself was absolutely tailored to fit the experiences I hoped to gain and skills I wanted to develop. I didn't feel that I was "only an intern" but, instead, an important member of the office. The tasks and projects that were assigned to me during my stay certainly helped me to identify my strengths and weaknesses. The staff members were always there to support me and always available to offer advice on how I could improve myself further. I am very grateful that I have been a part of this organisation
Geil, Admin & Marketing Intern, Jul - Dec 2012
The internship with HOST UK has given me invaluable skills that I can now use in my new job. I have gained confidence that I did not have before in my communication skills especially via telephone, but now I have a professional telephone manner due to making and taking calls. My knowledge and usage of Microsoft Office packages has also improved and my typing speed has increased incredibly since I started. It was during my internship that I found my job within the Ministry of Justice and the skills and confidence I gained helped me present myself well at the interview and also showed that I was willing to get out there and gain the necessary experience that will make me more attractive to employers. The people at HOST were brilliant to work with and ensured that I got the most out of my internship.
Rita, Admin & Marketing Intern, Apr - Aug 2012
